While creativity is a key catalyst for any design project, Waddill Group believes that organization within the creative approach allows for better planning, client communication, and execution. Over the past 30 years, Waddill Group has created a customized approach that guides clients through each phase of a project and enlists them as active partners in the creative process.

Phase 1: Brainstorming
The first phase in the Waddill Group process is one of the most valuable, as it sets expectations, ideas, and goals for the remainder of the engagement. Waddill Group engages the client in an interactive brainstorming session, during which Waddill Group team members can learn about the client’s thoughts, creative tastes, and dislikes. Through the use of questionnaires and in-person discussions, Waddill Group collects and analyzes the information gathered, creating a valuable road map for the future of the project.

Phase 2: Planning
During the planning phase, Waddill Group project members visit the client site, take measurements, and analyze existing conditions in order to align the architectural plan with the client’s vision, given existing building dimensions and other pre-determined design elements. Waddill Group utilizes diagrammatic test fit to create a virtual replication of the environment, which can be tweaked or altered based upon the client's feedback. Finally, space planning becomes the key factor in determining the success of the project as Waddill Group verifies that the layout of the space is efficient, meets adjacency requirements and complies with all other space restrictions.

Phase 3: Development
The development phase sets in motion the physical creation of a project. Perspective sketches finish selections and product specifics are analyzed with the client. During this phase, the client and Waddill Group combine creative thought with attention to detail, so that each fabric, color, and furniture selection is consistent with the overall vision of the environment. Once these decisions are solidified, Waddill Group communicates key design concepts to the respective consultants who have been enlisted to work on the project.

Phase 4: Management
The final phase of the Waddill Group process focuses on the physical construction documents, construction bid, and physical construction of the project. Waddill Group works closely with the General Contractor, enabling Waddill Group to communicate design intent clearly and consistently from the beginning to the end of the project. Waddill Group collaborates with the client and provides an open flow of information during the production of the construction documents as well as the details of the construction bid to ensure the client’s best interests are represented. Once the construction documents and the construction bids are approved, Waddill Group coordinates relevant details with all vendors and the General Contractor to keep the project organized, within budget, and on schedule.
